Caeleb Dressel added another individual gold medal to his collection in the men’s 100-meter butterfly, breaking the world record in the process!
Dressel previously broke the world record in this event in 2019, swimming a 49.50. His 49.45 in tonight was an impressive swim — he managed to keep a solid lead ahead of Kristof Milak of Hungary, who won the 200m butterfly by a mile.
This swim also sets a new Olympic record, breaking the previous 49.71 record that Dressel set earlier in these Games.
Can Dressel make it 3 individual golds? We’ll see how the 50-meter free goes!
