October 27, 2018
90% of the Earth’s population resides in the Northern Hemisphere. October is the middle of Autumn and this is historically the most inactive month of the year when it comes to engaging in physical fitness.
Months during the summer and the start of the year (January) have shown the highest participation rates for swimmers. Because October falls mid-way between the summer and the holiday season, it is the ideal period of time to empower swimmers at a time when they normally would not be.

The Future of World Swim Day
We’re already gearing up for World Swim Day on October 26, 2019! This international campaign takes place on the last Saturday of October. Below are the dates for the next three World Swim Days:

  • October 26, 2019
  • October 31, 2020
  • October 30, 2021

The Importance of Water Safety
Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning. Drowning is the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for U.S. children ages 1-14. Research shows risk of drowning can be reduced by 88 percent if children participate in formal swimming lessons between the ages of 1-4.
Yet, a survey conducted by the American Red Cross in 2014 found that more than half of Americans (54 percent) either can’t swim or don’t have all of the basic swimming skills. This is a problem that exists beyond the United States and we’re hoping to raise awareness and support organizations that are working to teach children and adults how to swim.
Over 4 Billion People Do Not Know How To Swim
Organizations To Support

Since my early childhood, I developed a great passion for the water. The freedom and enjoyment we experience as swimmers is often hard to describe. The feeling of weightlessness in the water is something we often take for granted, but it’s one of the many joys the sport of swimming offers humanity.
My swimming experience has empowered me to help others achieve their goals and enhance their aquatic journey. If you’re interested in supporting World Swim Day, please reach out to me directly at fares@myswimpro.com.
