This week, we caught up with Júlia Csepi in Budapest, Hungary. She’s a long distance swimmer training with MySwimPro to reach reach her fitness goals. We’re proud to welcome Júlia to our Ambassador Team and so proud of her to reach her goal of completing a 10km (10,000 meters) swim workout!
Hello everyone! My name is Julcsi (Júlia) and I am 24 years old, from Budapest, Hungary. I’m currently at university, training to become a primary school teacher. I started swimming regularly about 3.5 years ago due to chronic joint pain and I fell in love with the sport.
Nowadays I do long-distances, usually 5.3 kilometres or more. My main goal is to remain healthy and enjoy swimming, and MySwimPro helps me do that by staying active and always aiming higher. I recently reached my goal of swimming a 10km workout!
How I Became a Swimmer
It might sound weird but I was afraid of the water when I was a child. Fortunately in second grade, it was compulsory for everybody to go swimming weekly, where we were introduced to the basics. I finally let go of my fears and fell in love with the pool. From that moment on, my favorite part of summer was swimming in the lidos.
In university, I started swimming more regularly due to my chronic joint pain caused by Crohn’s Disease. Eventually, I fell in love with long-distance swimming. Nowadays, I swim twice a week, usually 5.3 kms each time, but sometimes I aim for more. I also enjoy yoga which is also great for my joints.

Honestly, my biggest health goal is to remain as healthy and pain-free as possible. Unfortunately I have a lot of different aching body parts, but the water helps me to relax and to ease the pain.
I think one of the greatest things I have learned that I have to listen to my body, because that can even overwrite my training plans. For me, the most important thing is to come out of the pool satisfied, without pressure and negative thoughts.

How MySwimPro Helps Me
Before MySwimPro I used to write every single workout into my diary with the distance and my times and basically that was it. Then I found MySwimPro in 2016, shortly after I moved to the UK. It was so uplifting to find the app, because it saves me a lot of time as I can now log everything quickly on my phone, and and see my improvements right after I jump out of the pool.
I mostly use MySwimPro for logging my workouts manually, after I swim. However, I love checking out the different Training Plans, which can be edited and built into my own swim regimen which helps me to shake things up when I don’t feel like swimming at all.

My Gold Medal Moment:
Using the app for my training really helps me to “just keep swimming.” I love how we have an honest community with fellow swimmers and how even the founders take a huge part in helping and motivating us.

I am so happy to have finally reached my goal of swimming 10km in one day!

I truly love swimming and couldn’t imagine my life without it.
If I may, I would like to give a shout-out to Colin, an amazing elderly man, who cycles to the swimming pool every single day in Fleet, England. He once told me he started swimming again after his wife passed away, and that it helped distract him from his sorrows. He is truly an inspiration to me and I really miss seeing his smiling face now that I’m back in Hungary.
