Open water racing takes special training — if you’re preparing for a one-mile open water race or are training for a sprint or Olympic distance triathlon, the Open Water Swim Training Plan in MySwimPro is designed for you! Open Water Training Plan Overview


  • Workouts: 30
  • Average Workout: 2,200 meters = 60 minutes
  • Goal: Complete a 1,500 meter open water race

Who’s it for? This Plan is designed for swimmers looking to improve their 1,500m open water swim or complete an Olympic or sprint distance triathlon.

How does it work? At the end of this Plan you’ll be ready to race 1,500 meters in open water! Challenge yourself with threshold test Sets and continuous pool swims to build endurance and speed. Supplemental open water swims are recommended once per week in the final six weeks leading up to your race.
